If you have dreamed of owning a home in Tuscany, if you have wished for a carefully and meticulously restored 300 year old farmhouse, our Rustico may be for you. It is located 14 km (9 miles) east of Lucca, 45 km (30 miles) west of Florence and 45 km from the splendid beaches of the Tyrrhenian Sea, in the very small town of Castelvecchio.
It is completely furnished including linen, dishes and silverware. It was built from local stone with gigantic exposed beams of chestnut. The floors are made of terracotta. Before it was restored it was a peasant home where animals lived on the lowest floor, and the families on the upper two floors.
No additions have ever been made on the original house.
It is located at the end of a private road which curves and winds for 0.7 km. The site is remote, peaceful, and tranquil. It is situated in a 6 acre olive grove and the view is vast and unencumbered. Our olive trees cover the hillside and provide a superior, extra vergine olive oil. Some of the trees are over 100 years old. There is a terrace walk with views of the surrounding plain.
The house is less than 100m on three floors. The ground floor has a queen size sofa bed, a tile bathroom with tub and Jacuzzi and a working fireplace.
The washer/dryer is located on this floor. The middle floor has a dining room table which will seat eight. The kitchen has a stove, refrigerator-freezer and a Miele dishwasher. The top floor has a queen size bed, bathroom with shower, and a transcendent view of the quintessential Tuscany country with olive trees, silvery gray blending into the ever changing light.
On the outside there is a double hammock for afternoon naps, a redwood picnic table with benches and a large umbrella and another table with four chairs for use on one of the terraces. It will be easy for you to buy fresh bread, homemade pasta, local pecorino cheese, matured fruits and vegetables in which you can almost taste the sunshine and wine from the Lucchese Hills.
There are several modestly priced restaurants serving outstanding yet simple regional dishes within close range.
Our Rustico is available for you to move into immediately and you can spend spring and summer in paradise.
